FA Statement
    Tuesday, 25 November 2008.
The FA has confirmed that no disciplinary action will be taken against Sheffield United defender Chris Morgan with relation to a challenge on Barnsley's Iain Hume.

Morgan was booked for the challenge during the match at Oakwell on 8 November.

An FA spokesman said: "When judging whether to take disciplinary action in this case, The FA has had to consider the challenge itself and not the outcome of it.

"The FA has been given express direction from FIFA that we cannot upgrade yellow cards to red. On this basis, we can only bring additional charges in the most exceptional cases and only if it can be proved beyond doubt that the actions of a player were a deliberate attempt to injure an opponent.

"Having reviewed all available evidence in this case, including submissions made by Barnsley, there is no basis on which an additional charge could brought."

    Shocking.....

Good statement from the club now on official site, looks like other action via police etc is more likely based on the last sentence.

The FA have not studied the video then

The overwhelming views of independant observers was 'it was deliberate' what a bloody shambles we have at the FA. New meaning to FA does **** All

    he shouldn't have needed to.

The ruling body has failed to offer any assurance to footballers that they will be protected on the field of play from challenges that have no place in the game.

I would be interested to know on what criteria they have come to this conclusion.

    WTF????

    :'(

What about the ben thatcher incident???

    Hypocrites!!!

    From Wiki:

On August 23, 2006 Thatcher was involved in a controversial elbowing incident during a match between Portsmouth and Manchester City. As he and Pedro Mendes ran to get a loose ball, Thatcher viciously and intentionally led with his elbow, knocking Mendes into the advertising hoardings rendering him unconscious. Mendes required oxygen at pitchside and suffered a seizure while being transferred to hospital, where he spent the night. Mendes was discharged from hospital the next day, but remained under medical supervision.[11] Thatcher, who issued a written apology to Mendes, was investigated by the FA as a result of the challenge. Greater Manchester Police noted receipt of many "statements of complaint" and also chose to investigate the matter.[12] On August 30, Manchester City announced that Thatcher would be banned for six matches, two of which would be suspended, and fined six weeks' wages for the challenge.[13] This punishment is separate from the sanctions made by the FA, who suspended Thatcher for eight matches, with a further fifteen game suspended ban for two years.

    Disgusting News

The FA shouldn't be letting Morgan get away with his thug like behaviour. I'm glad we seem to be taking it further. Dunno what made The Sun think he would be banned for the rest of the season though.

In my opinion the FA have brought the game in to disrepute

An elbow to the side of the head should have no place in the game of football and the Morgan/Hume incident should have been the perfect example of why such a challenge should be dealt with in the severest possible terms. The safety of the players should be paramount and they have all been let down today by their governing body.

**** em, I hope they rot in hell the cowardly cnuts. Nice to know the governing body in our beloved sport encourages violence on the pitch, obviously this will help keep violence off the pitch under control.

No real surprise, they'd already released their decision before realising they hadn't got the video evidence from us that they'd promised to review and were never going to change it.

Who exactly has decided on this ?

And who did they seek advice from ?

As I've said, as long as you can get away with it, any challenge is now permissible on the field of play. As long as you don't say any nasty words to the 4th official.

The FA want 'respect' - laughable.
