Broad spectrum six figures lower end not a chance but top end it's a gamble. The lad could just disappear in mens football or go on and get ship loads of goals at 1m+ and good selling clause it may be worth considering
As of yet he can't establish himself in our first team. As good as he may become. He's not yet ready. We'll not sell unless there was a load of conditions. Appearances. International. Sell on etc. One of the best players I've ever seen at his age from our youth set up was R.N. Lazarus. Worth nowt in the end. Then you have john stones at the other end of the spectrum. We did well with clauses. It can go both ways.
His issue is his size imo. It's ok being that small in Spain or Italy, but you'll struggle to show your technical ability when you can't physically impose yourself against much bigger men in the English game. I see it as a 50/50 for us with Jalo, do we keep him with us and we impede his progress, or do we cash in (with add ons) and let him flourish in a Country where the physical side of the game isn't as prominant... I don't know.
For a club in transition, he’s exactly who we should be playing. For a selling club with a business model that supports young players and profit, it’s ******* mental. David Hirst was too young once.
What I've seen up to now. He has all the skills but not the Stature. Hirsty had. Another year or so maybe. Ivan Toneyesque. Who was 21 when he hit the ground running. I genuinely thought young Josiah Dyer would be ready first. But the last few games I saw him play he was very disappointing. Including in the U18 final. Very good in the Cameo at Donny.
And so would I ,but it's a risk just thinking a lump up front now and a good sell on and if he does make it big another lump later on. No ones got a crystal ball it's just best guess either way.
If we keep him here and play him, I don't see that as hindering his progress. From what I have seen of him, he's pretty tough, despite his size. Tranmere defenders found him hard to handle as soon as he came on. His being young and not very big doesn't mean he's easily intimidated. One of the stars of the great Leeds side, Billy Bremner, was tiny.
Again, the scattergun approach that we have adopted to signing strikers is ultimately hindering his development. All we needed was one maybe two quality additions up top, with Marsh and Jalo in the mix. We now have Watters, Shaw, Dallas all very average who are ahead of him in the pecking order
Clearly he’s not ready for first team football otherwise he would be playing already. A manager/head coach is only going to play a 17 year old if they are better than what they have by some distance ala Wayne Rooney etc and considering how poor our team is that tells it’s own story etc. Which means we need to be patient with him till he’s ready.
The prem club I'd guess would be Wolves.. they love a Portuguese player.. The agent Jorge Mendis as links with em
To be honest, coming in to this season I was thinking that he’d be involved in our match day squads. Probably not at the start but definitely as the season goes on. He’s seemingly getting all this attention and is regularly involved with the Portugal under 19s squads so you’d think he’d be making an impact for us sooner rather than later.
'There is also understood to be long-standing interest from Premier League clubs but no official bids as of yet.' Was in the article from the Chron matey.
Has come on a few times for us, as well as the odd start, and looked interesting but... needs to prove himself at a senior level i.e. some time or a start at League One before we can say he's our next real "asset".....
