I assumed it was a bit of a laugh, that the money was pretend and that you could someone something appropriate at some point.

Tried to send someone a birthday cake the other week on it and it brought up a form to enter my card details to buy it! Surely it can't cost money to send a photo of a birthday cake?!

    I suspect I'm being stupid (chinny) :)S)

Yes... unbelievably, they expect you to pay for a crappy bit of clipart! There are free gifts available and there's the advise given in your other reply.

More thoughts... Facebook is a decent site and allows you to share all those old photos with your mates but you do have to wonder what the hidden costs are. Who is watching you and what do the site get from your membership? Maybe I'm being a cynical bar steward but I think caution is the way forward. Similarly, I wonder what all the appeal is of places like myspace... surely anyone can create a better homepage themselves independantly that will be without the restraints and restrictions of the myspace format. Okay, it's simple to set up but most people on there seem fairly IT savvy. I must be getting old!
