    If you're like me and use Messenger and thought that cancelling your facebook account because of Zuckerberg's removal of fact checking (in order to insert himself further up Trump's rectal passage), would stop you using Messenger, then I can tell you that it does not. I have deactivated my facebook account today and can still use Messenger.

    You have to give a reason though, guess what I put?

    I despise messenger, but keep it becuase so many people communicate with it. WhatsApp is much better, but we should also all delete that as it's the same owners.

    I was amused when I heard this fact checker news. Because Facebook has always been full of untruth, so will we notice a difference?

    Interesting view, any particular reason for hating Messenger? I use both Messenger and WhatsApp (wife's family use Messenger, my family use WhatsApp). I slightly prefer Messenger because I can access it on multiple devices. But you're right, they are both owned by Zuckerberg...

    You can access WhatsApp on multiple devices too these days, as long as they're not [edit] iPads.

    So I can access it on an iPhone and Windows 11 laptop then?

    Edit; I can get WhatsApp on my laptop! :) Tha learns summat new ivry day.

    Edit: Yes, I think it's just iPads that it doesn't currently support, but for those you can use the web interface apparently. My missus has been railing against this for ages, but as an Apple skeptic I have little sympathy.

    I dont use facebook, x, tiktok, instagram, messenger or owt else. Deleted them all. Only social media I use is the BBS. Amazingly, I find that I can survive ok without them. Weird eh?

    I think I could survive OK without them too, but my wife and I live in different countries and it's nice to be able to chat face-to-face online so WhatsApp comes in handy.

    I've never used instagram or TikTok, only signed up to Twitter 'cos there was a Barnsley FC thing on it. I used Facebook to try to set up a bicycle repair side line (didn't work). I deleted my Twitter account when Musk took over. I only use Messenger and WhatsApp to keep in touch with my family and my wife's. Social media is a pretty toxic place I can well do without...

    Apart from the BBS. :)
