1 point off the playoffs with a squad of players from the Irish League or Lower divisions.

Quick look on twitter I see the #teamslikepreston hashtag is in full swing too!

Talk of clubs courting Hugil and Pearson though. Could derail them in January if they go.

Preston have got some financial weight behind them though, but as one of their fans posted on here earlier in the season, they do try and be self sufficient.

Their entire squad cost £2million to put together. They're proof that it is possible to be competitive in this league on a shoestring budget.

The problem is the January transfer window. Would be surprised if the team isn’t broken up in a similar fashion to ours.

Still makes me laugh how people are adamant Ben Pearson is rubbish.

Good player for us and even better now.

We were proving that last year too, until the team was deliberately broken up between Jan and the start of this season. Not sure Preston would be as competitive next season if they implemented the same 'plan' and turnover of players between now and then.

Bet their wage bill is considerably higher than ours

They're paying low Championship wages by comparison to most clubs. It's just we pay League 1 wages, that's why we end up with League 1 players.

It is. They’re losing about £4m a year

January will be a test of the resolve of their board. A couple of their bigger players are in the twilight of their career anyway, Gallagher for example, so they're not likely to be poached. Hugill shows how you can gain success from plucking players from the lower leagues.

Was bang average for us but was young & has got better with games. Good player now.

At the time we improved when Pearson went & Scowen moved into that role

That’s not true at all. We were playing a different formation in Pearsons last few games and Brownhill replaced Pearson not Scowen.

We improved when Hammill came in and switched to 4-4-2 nothing coincided with Pearson leaving.

Scowen was also a regular in the team that got beat week after week under Johnson.

We switched to 4-4-2 and Pearson was brilliant including a man of the match performance on his last game.

Brownhill then came in and partnered Conor in the middle for the majority of the unbelievable run.

Scowen struggled to get in the side regularly due to the form of others. Playing right back towards the end.

Amazing how people just make things up.

Pearson was not good for us, he was average. Scowen did much better in a central midfield role than Pearson did.

He played further forward with Hourihane to accommodate Pearson despite showing he was better in that role when Pearson didn’t play.

This was the season before 4-4-2.

Pearson used to hang on to the ball too long, much better player now.
