On the penalty appeal: "I have not seen an angle where it looks like a penalty. "We suddenly had five or 10 minutes where we were baying for blood and anywhere in the world would have shouted for a penalty. But it was not for me." Compare that to the reaction Dave Jones would have given to that not-given penalty.
Mick showed us a lot of respect in his interview before the game. He clearly still has a great affection for us.
My favourite player when I was a kid and someone I still look up to now. He's never failed to impress me either playing the game, managing a team or just being the man he is. I hope he's true to his word and never becomes our manager. It doesn't matter how good he is, and I think he's very good, every manager who ever takes charge at our club will eventually fail. Every manager who ever takes charge of any club of a similar size to Barnsley will eventually fail. I couldn't stand to see Barnsley fans turn on Mick the way Middlesbrough's fans have turned on their hero Tony Mowbray.
He always is open and honest when it comes to us. Had it been against anyone else and I think he might have wanted something.
I dont think Mick would have said that was a pen even if they had been playing the Fowls - he is just a straight talking honest bloke always has been
Mick was one of my favourite players as a kid - big no nonsense centre back who took no prisoners. Had a massive throw as well from what I remember
