<div>"The Barnsley game was athrowback tooEnglish football, the wingers playing more as attacking half backs with a big center forward and an inside forword in support, they won by being better all over the pitch.</div><div>Forget big vlittle team, this was asets of tactic`s straight out of the sixties against the namby pamby europeanstyle, Barnsley played it a treat and I hope they go onand win it."</div>
RE: Why? nt maybe i misunderstood what was written but, a that chelsea lost is not negative/ throwback for english football, unless chelsea think they have a devine right to win against teams in lower divisions.
RE: Why? nt I think what he's trying to say is that it's a return to the old fashioned style of British play, i.e. what we do best, as opposed to the modern attempt to emulate the style of other successful European teams, which doesn't suit us.
That isn't what he was saying He was saying that the game was played in the 'classic' style with barnsley set up how you used to see most teams play rather than the boring way that chelsea fans have become acustomed to. It was a compliment I think.
