Well We Did.......... ask them in a song, where their famous Anfield atmosphere was 36K home fans should not be so quiet.
Our atmosphere is usually poor except from European nights. And, I'm not saying this as a pathetic jibe back, but I didn't hear your fans much at all. Especially not in the first half.
Well I heard them, and I was sat in the East Stand at Oakwell. The volume was very loud on the big screen though.
First half was the worst away atmosphere from us I have heard this season We didnt do too bad second half though We cant really criticise too much - our away support is much more vocal than home for some reason
Same for Liverpool fans - and its no surprise. You make the effort to travel, then you make the effort to get an atmosphere going. At home you have people turning up just minutes before kick-off - been there, done that, set in their ways and expecting us to turn teams over.
Hi first of all I've read most of the postings over the last few days and would just like to state that it's good to have an opposition fan on that wants a proper discussion rather than a name calling session. We have a Cardiff fan (Bluebird) who posts on here on a fairly regular basis and who really contributes to the board. Hope you do Inter and also stick around for future discussions.
Right purpose of my post, I didn't go yesterday but watched it on the beam back which was great and lead me to think about the benefits of supporting a lower league club compared with one of the big four.
Over the last two seasons we've had a promotion through the playoffs a successful battle against relegation and to cap it all a win at a team who have dominated English football in the 80s and have won five european cups. We are in a league where we could possibly finish in the playoffs but also get sucked into a relegation battle. I feel that to us yesterday was probably similar to LFC in istanbul.... the difference is that I think there are far more opportunities to get the feel good factor than if you are one of the big four... a trip to Anfield, Emeraites, Old Trafford is only a decent cup draw away whereas to the big four is a matter of course.
For the big four there is a premier league where only three or four teams can possibly win it.
The question I ask is what would make a Liverpool fan get the same 'buzz' from a game as we did yesterday ?
Cheers
Dave

You have just summed it all up brilliantly Sorry for butting in but I was also at Oakwell yesterday. The feeling you get when a little club beats a big club (it was like that even when we were in the Premier) is unbeatable. I doubt that fans of Liverpool, Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal etc can ever feel like that. They realistically expect to win just about every game they play in. My God imagine if we were 5th in the Premiership, still in with a chance of a Champion's League place??? Can't imagine the stick the Liverpool team, manager and board are getting now. On the other hand, on here, you never know. Good post mate.
