Had a txt off one of the lads there. Sez PC isn't sacking anyone and that if anybody leaves it'd be him first. Reliant on loans because Stones deal never happened. His sale would have allowed club to buy experienced players. But looking to get Pearson permanent and deals in place for Smith and Wilkinson. Tried for Kevin Nolan. PC said BFC haven't said expect top six. Not their style. Lots of police stuff he sez int worth sharing/knowing. SYP are there apparently tonight.
I think it's in reference to a deal was made when we signed him on loan, to turn it into a permanent deal if we so wished. This was definitely the case with Smith, Rothwell and Townsend. We agreed a fee when we agreed the loan deal. Sort of try before you buy. I wouldn't read too much into it. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
We don't have to sign Wilkinson if we don't want to, just a deal in place if we do want to, smart idea. Would have looked smart if he was scoring for fun
Even if we had no money I'd sooner us play and bed in our own kids. Sounds a bit of a kop out though when we let go so many of the big earners
So: 1) We can all settle down now - Lee's going nowhere. Three year plan here we come! Yippee! All will be well long term. or 2) There is no pressure on Lee to depart from his current methods. If it lands us in League Two - no matter. Oakwell is a very valuable building site. (And don't forget BMBC are under pressure to make more land available for house building). Just one thing though - please tell me the bit about signing Wilkinson permanently is a sick joke?
No but bfc did talk of a top six budget and revenue so presumably tonight they explained why that translates to only being able to afford loans unless a once in a lifetime sale of John stones emerges. Or have they basically admitted tonight that it is loans forever for the future of bfc except in rare occurrence where we sell a player who then gets a 40 million pounds move a few years later?
Is the deal in place for Wilkinson meant to be a fan pacifier? Fookin seriously out of touch (with sanity) if so.
The comments re: Stones are shocking to me and give the strongest hint yet that either the club is in a financial hole or someone's speaking with forked tongue. The budgets for this season would have been set long before Mourinho's bids for Stones started and, anyway, anyone with half a brain would have known Kenwright was not going to sign his own death warrant by selling John. As others have said, we failed to recruit the necessary players while others in the division with much lower current resources did, so either our recruitment approach is carp or we didn't have the finances - despite hefty wage bill reductions (Cranie etc), larger than most season ticket sales and the Holgate money. More spin from the spintastic four.
