When we sold Howard I thought we'd be relegated. I'm so happy to say I was wrong. Say what you like about Simon Davey, but he's achieved his primary aim for the last three seasons so in my view he deserves some credit. Having said that, there has been no progress this season what-so-ever so if it was up to me I'd thank Mr Davey for his service to the club and look at recruiting a new manager in the summer. I don't know if that will happen as I wouldn't begin to be able to second guess Patrick Cryne. Whoever is at the reigns we need some investment in the team. Scoring goals is a real problem, both from attack and midfield and that needs addressing. Another season may be one too far for Moore, so another central defender is also a priority. And we still haven't any left sided players. Anway, that's in the future. Well done Reds. Another season in the championship. Come On!!!
Would you want John Sheridan though? Davey has kept us in the division, but his decisions this season with tactics and team selections have baffled absolutely everybody, and left us hanging on until the last day of the season. This shouldn't have happened, so thank him for three seasons of survival and a memorable cup run, and move him on his way.
Get Luke Steele signed and relieve Davey of his duties....no continual improvement as per Pat Crynes Yorkshire Post article...
there have been some significant injuries though and some bad luck not saying we should definately keep him but I certainly think it requires a little more thought than some have given it considering, as I said earlier, where we might have finished without injuries and bad luck and also look at the teams relegated at our expense. From a neutral point of view at the start of the season someone could have justifiably argued for us being the smaller team and more likely to go down. Ok Simon has made some errors but he is still a relatively inexperienced manager and he has kept us in this league so I think possibly one more season. At that point he will have had 3 1/2 years and that is more like the sort of term you should give a manager, we have done well by not acting too rashly up to now I just think its worth consdiering given our recent managerial sackings
