however Do us a favour and remember this handy bit of information about Oakwell Behind the goal where barnsley fans sit is the ponty end, the crap stand is the west stand, one down the other side with BarnsleyFC written in it is the east stand and behind the far goals is the north stand, thats the away fans. Try to avoid calling them the 'big stand' and the 'little stand'. Apart from that, make yourself at home
Well said you, we're taking a couple of friends whats never ever been to a football game ,they're both rugby fans....But what the **** they pay their moneys and are gonna enjoy the atmosphere what ll be made by all the newbie fans whats going, i say come on you newbies lets show the diehards how to make a noise....
Agreed. I'm really happy I will get to share something like this, with my very best friends, even if some of them don't even support Barnsley.
RE: PPPPFFFFF!!...Tha knows nowt.... East stand = Brewery stand, North Stand = Kop and West =Main stand. Ponty End = Ora = Ponty End Brewery Stan usedf to Have Barnsley Bitter on the roof. all the best action used to be behind it at half time when everyone changed ends (specially on Derby matches)
You are indeed welcome. Welcome to watch it at home on TV or at a pub, then if you really get a feel for it (we'll be the ones in Red) then you could perhaps attend a Championship game or two next season ? You could even get a "season ticket" and be really, really special.
RE: Was Barnsley Bitter ........ Youve got me thinking now. When did John Smiths buy out Oakwell Brewery? I first went to Oakwell in 1966 and am pretty sure it was after that that JS took over Oakwell Brewery. Might be wrong though I know it was called the Brewery Stand. black curved corrugated roof I remember and the West stand was the tallest one in the ground . I usually stood in the PontyEnd behind the goal. Anyone remember the 'toothless wonder' who used to stand at the back and lead the chanting?
