1. How long does the actual game last in the Superbowl?
2. How long does the half-time entertainment last?
3. Before the game is there usually some kind of gig / entertainment and if so how long does that last?

Just trying to work out the sport / Entertainment ratio in terms of the length of the event.
Ta.

1) The 4 quarters last fifteen minutes each, but the game takes around two and a half hours. 2) Half an hour I think. 3)I don't think they do entertainment before the match, but Eaststander would know better.
Before the superbowl game othere is the long drawn out introduction of the players on to the pitch. This probably takes half an hour all told when added to miscellaneous things like aircraft fly-bys, national anthem and parachutists. But then this is no different to the pleasantries and warm up before the FA Cup final. Maybe it should be considered separately. Of course the actual duration of the game can vary depending on various factors. If the team in front has possession then there's a good chance they'll be keeping the ball live and letting the clock run down between plays whereas on the flipside the team trailing would be finding touch and stopping the clock at every opportunity. A running team are also more likely to run the clock down just because running keeps the clock ticking.
The Superbowl isn't the best game to use to judge the length of the pre-game and halftime shows. But to answer those questions 1. 60 minutes of active play, but the clock stops when the ball is dead. 2. Not sure, I'm usually drinking and eating at that time - I think it's about 20 mins 3. Don't think so, there's the anthems etc. Introduction of teams. The fans will be tailgating in the car parks before the game (drinking, BBQ etc)
