And this is a serious question.</p> What would it take this season, to get off his back? IE what does he need to achieve so that next summer, you are not asking for him to be sacked? </p>
well, we are above that already, and i didnt hear any excuses saturday... so shut the **** up!!!!!!!!!
Midtable mediocrity and some signs of progression - not too unreasonable I don't think That was all I wanted last season and the season before but he failed to deliver and that's why I wanted him out at the end of the season
60 points by the end of the season and staying clear of the bottom 3 from the end of August onwards would be enough for me. I'd also prefer entertaining football - which we can play and a more positive mindset - going out to win games rather than trying not to lose - but as long the first point is met it will do
That's an easy one... ...win football matches. Simple as that. Last year we celebrated too many draws as if they were wins - we let a lot of 'three points' slip in the last ten minutes, only to walk away with a point. At times we dominated matches only to get the one point. Enormously frustrating. We basically had one goal per game in us - and if anyone was willing to come at us, throw caution to the win and play to score two or more goals, we would be found out. Signing players in the best thing about Davey - his record is very good - he has signed some genuine talent (Hammill being the latest example). What Davey is weak at is his match day tactics, his crazy formations, and (frankly) quite daft substitutions (Watford away - striker off, winger on? Anyone?). So far this season is underlining exactly what we know about Davey - we start with a draw and we sign a very good player. All going to script. That script ends up with us, at the end of the season, there or there abouts relegation, with a team of talented individuals punching below their weight collectively. Last season we should have finished lower midtable - not just outside the bottom three (count up the last minute points we threw away). What will it take for me to genuinely believe in Simon Davey? He'll have to show me that he has done some serious reflecting on his weaknesses and that he has learned and improved on the field. That takes nothing away from the signing today - Adam Hammill is an excellent buy, and I'm over the moon with the news. It doesn't suddenly make Davey a really really good manager though, and I think we all know that Simon Davey has his weaknesses.
Sssshhhhhhhhhhhh I mentioned Daveys tactics and was almost hung, drawn and quartered on the town hall steps!!! but your right
Mid-table, Hamill + 3 more Championship players ..... ..... Odejayi out on loan to anybody who will have him and Bogdanovic at Centre forward
I will second that.. I like my football with an element of entertainment in it. Also negative tactics produce negative fans.
RE: Mid-table, Hamill + 3 more Championship players ..... But isn't that telling him how to do specifics of his job? What if none of those happen, and we finish in the top half within touching distance of the playoffs?
Contradicting yourself there mate We let a lot of '3 points' slip and ended up with a draw - complete opposite to Saturday. Crazy formations and bizarre match day tactics - Wasn't it 4-4-2 against Wednesday, and pretty much like for like with the substitutions? Not going to script according to last season, but it will take more than one game to prove he's learnt the error of his ways.
All i want is progress and for him to keep to his word and demonstrate that he has learned from last season. If he does this then I'm happy for him to stay as Barnsley manager.
So you are saying that unless Oddjob goes on loan or we play boggy at Centre forward we will be relegated. Even if we sign another striker who partners Hume up front. Dont get me wrong I would prefer us to start with Boggy up front instead of Oddjob but there is more than one approach that can be taken.
RE: No BBC results predictor thing come March That would be a sign of a much better season. He's already done one of the things he needed to do to get me off his back by going back to 4-4-2. He does not deserve credit for this however as last year the whole ground could see that his "tactics" didn't work. The early signs are quite promising though and if he manages to get a couple more good signings and we are not entrenched in the bottom 6 all season I'll be happy to give him credit.
I'm saying we need all those things to happen really ... .... because we are short of players and Bogo should never be on the bench while Oddjob is in the team, but of course there are lots of things that can happen to improve our chances of survival
