RE: cazi Aye, I know the feeling very well. Amber is two now, but boy she put me through the paces when she was a puppy. I'd be lost without her tho'.
this one got a kennel with a swing door and i cant believe the things he gets thru that small door hes demolished my pond and its got to a point now that because the car is parked round the back of the house when we go out we go thru the front door and walk round otherwise our clothes are covered in muck but how can you stop em jumping up at this age (6 months) if i werent working i would keep him but i just cant find the time and although the wall is 5ft high he wont be long before he gets over this oh and shitting everywhere no matter how far he walks he cant **** till he gets back into the yard and then he cant just do 1 he as to do at least 3 and then paddle in it and this is what then gets on your clothes. still somebody would love him.
Apparently, the reason they jump up is because that's how they would greet their mother and the reason they try to lick your face is because that's how they got their food from their mother on her return from hunting. Basically, they see you as the provider of food. If you want a little tip, hard as it maybe, the way to stop them jumping up on greeting you is to ignore them! Bloody hard I know, but it does work.
i know this works ive had to do it in the past with my other dog, she is now 8 years old that is another problem because of the springers dissruptive nature, and that i am out at work i have to let him sleep in her kennel and lock her in the house shes no trouble but i dont like doing this i prefer her to be able to go in and out as she pleases. she used to have her own place in the back yard with a flap door she is safe because it is all walled in but the pup will soon be able to get over the 5ft wall, some years ago i worked at a house and their springer used to jump up and onto the garage roof.
