Are you into your real ales mate? Ever been to the Fat Cat in Sheffield?

I went on a tour around the brewery with some mates and then got chatting to the owner and ended up having an all night session on pale rider and a few others that I can't remember the names of..

Never really had real ale before but getting quite into it - any other recommendations?

    cheers

Not been in the Fat Cat - it's a bit out of the way isn't it?

My mate works in Sheffield and occasionally he drags me round a few pubs down there....last time we went into the Devonshire Cat which is a cracking boozer.

Loads of recommendations - follow the "tonights tipple" threads and pick up on some of the bottles. 4 for £5 in Morrisons so just try a few.

Wentworth beers worth checking out, and Acorn...for local beers.

There are a wide range of varieties though, IPA, red beers, stout - really there is something for all tastes. So find the style you like and sample those but then branch out a bit.
If I go into a pub and see one I've not had before I just have to try it!

Get yourself to the beer festival around October time, a few on here go...in fact I met up with a few from here at the festival.

Cheers mate, yep the Fat Cat is down Kelham island - there's now quite a few real ale pubs down there - its a pretty nice little area with refurbished industrial buildings etc.

You could go on a mini pub crawl there and Hillsborough is just about walkable to if you need some pubs to go to prior to next seasons game it will be worth a shout. Fat Cat won pub of the year or some such in the Times and they do some cracking homemade pub grub. Rough around the edges but cheap as chips.

The Devonshire Cat is owned by the same guys who created the Fat Cat, top pub.

"Hillsborough is just about walkable to if you need some pubs to go to prior to next seasons game" - I like the sound of us playing them next season!

Don't tend to go to away games these days (Playoff final, Huddersfield in playoffs only ones in last few seasons!) might be up for that though if a few are meeting up before hand.
