Please sent Gordon Owen a pm , as well as Whitey, next time there is a strike. Or at least make sure that all the 12 year old girls that are left in town get home safely, cos their parents cannot be trusted to ensure they are safe.
You'd think someone in the second of year of high school would be able to get on the school bus wouldn't you. To be sure of her safety though we going to hold her hand until she's in the classroom, sure the rest of the kids won't rib her.
you would have thought that as the buses were on strike(the majority anyway) then the parents would have arranged some other way of the child getting home, but no, blame someone else, I find that is the modern way. Never accept responsibility for anything , always be prepared to blame someone else for your failings and then you will always feel better knowing you are a great modern parent.
Bless, modern parent, read the other thread. Ps she got home in the end, on the bus, her mum sorted it for her then said she needs to check for any future strikes. You have kids on that boat Mark?
No, they are older, but we have our grandson come to visit, of course he always wears his life jacket whenever he is outside. I have no idea what your point is but I eagerly await your next post.
Don't worry mate I'm not Hemsy, I'll not wind you up or play thread tennis with you it's only the BBS. Glad to hear about the life jacket, hope there's a rubber ring nearby too.
We have 2 adult life jackets, 2 rings , floating ropes, 1 kiddie life jacket and a long boat hook and short hook. I never take water safety too lightly. The start of the thread was a light hearted post, just like I did with Whitey, maybe I should have put some smilies in!!!!
Don't worry that's how I've took it, the missus disagrees though, she going through a divorce, the ex has stolen money from the girls account, he's running from the CSA, he's been today and took contents out of her shed and we've just been told the house move is delayed (2 mins from her school) so she's just turned and said and some ****** on an internet is saying lm an irresponsible parent because I didn't know the strike dates, is that the yardstick on parenting?? I think shes about to kick the tele in.... Pity I was hoping to watch Kes later to get me in the Barnsley spirit for tomorrow.
Morning folks the latest situation is this, there's a branch meeting tomorrow to decide the next step. the original suggestion was for an all out strike after thes 4 one dayers buy i think most people are realising now rhat this would be a no brainer so what i suspect might happen will be a strict work to rule and overtime ban.We should have done that in the first place cos if operated corectly it would have been far more disruptive than the strikes have been and here's why. 1 The bus pulls up, handbrake on, bus out of gear, open door. 2 Board passengers, EVERY pass presented is inspected thoroughly, EVERY pass sold by the driver, if it is a weekly pass is inserted in the plastic wallet, ,if the driver is asked for one, not left for the passenger to do his or herself. 3 The driver will wait until all passengers are seated before closing the door putting his vehicle in gear an driving off. 4 If the service operated has a terminus point, ie not a circular service, he or she will do a full search of the bus looking for lost property before either starting the return trip or if in the bus station, before starting the next trip. 5 Whilst operating the service ALL Speed limits will be observed, that includes the 20 mph limits in both Athersley Estates, this doesn't mean the driver will be deliberately dawdling but he will be driving UP to the relevant speed limit. Now any regular bus passengers, tell me how many of these rules do you see your driver observing. So in Gordon Owen's case unfortunately as the day progresses more and more services will be cancelled.
