Gerry's great to have at the club and that is why I wanted to keep him here for another season in the summer. "He has a big presence in the dressing room and as you could see the other night he we was giving the lads encouragement from the dug-out. "He's got great experience and he's been helping me a lot to learn about the English game and players here." Says the Stoke manager. Don't worry though, I'm just a dumb schmuk who ought to be thankful he's got a club to support. Dunt know **** all me.

"City manager Johan Boskamp has hinted he'd like Gerry Taggartto join his backroom staff at the end of the season - if he decides tohang-up his boots.

The veteran defender, 35 later this month, hasn't figuredsince the opening game of the season against Sheffield Wednesday fourweeks ago."
Hasnt played since first game of the season? Get em phoned up. We will take. Make him an offer to be player/coach. Helps on the pitch, helps on the training ground. I still can't believe Hart turned him down and went for Vaughan and Carbon.

In fairness he was sent off in the first match for a professional foul. I think that carries a 3 match ban anyway! So no surprise he's not been playing
As someone said on here the other day.. Rich Tea DAREN'T sign him. He'd be more popular than him and be a strong candidate to take over..
Then in my ill informed ignorant opinion That either shows a poor lack of judgement or if I may venture a supposition, maybe Ritchie does not want such a dominant presence as Taggs around Oakwell maybe for reasons we can only speculate.
He also said... "Chris Shuker is teh fonal piece in the jigsaw" and "I don't need anymore defenders" I mean he's only worked round this shower for what? 18 months? Not long enough to see who is **** and who is not. Oh no.
RE: As someone said on here the other day.. But if he gets somebody in with a clue, he might, maybe just keep his job. If he doesnt get anybody in, we will struggle anyway. So he will be out.
Nice pay off then.. remember he did insist on a two year deal...after a one year deal had already been announced....joke club
RE: Nice pay off then.. Whats Gerry going to do at the club learn the youngsters how to sup 10 pints a session.
You also forget............... ..........experienced, able to read game, actually knows how to defend and so on and so forth. Lidd's is pants aswell according to AR, didn't want him as he wouldn't bring anything new to the club! Just a thought, but has anyone else had the idea that AR seems a little reluctant to consider players that are seen as better footballers, and more popular than he was or will be? No. OK......I'll shut up. Sorry. OOB.
Apart from asking him direct............ .....no-one knows that 100%. He was never asked, and contract negotiations were never entered in to. I find it very hard to believe that he would NEVER consider coming back t'Tarn, especially after agreeing to play at feckin' Boundray (SP?) Park! You never know until you ask. OOB.
