Just for your information mate, according to a plaque in the centre of Dundee the battle for independence has been going on since 1288. Maybe it is about time we got our independence and be in total control of our own destiny and to enjoy our FREEDOM.
Right thanks for that Mario. I shall now get in touch with Dundee City Council and Heritage Scotland to have that plaque removed at their earliest convenience.
Quite a sweeping statement my friend. Suppose it all depends on who you listen to and believe. You obviously have the knowledge, so please do share what you know about it.
Neither am I mate and I get the vote. It is a huge thing that is about to happen and I really want to be sure that I vote in the right way. My children and grandchildren's futures are at stake here. ATM it's independence for me and the British Govt is doing nothing in which to change my mind.
I like Scotland. I've been there a few times, always enjoyed it. Fort William in particular. Loved skiing on Ben Nevis. Love the lakes (lochs) up there. Friendly people. Not really got an opinion on the independence thing, mind. I'm sick of politics and the lies, hypocrisy etc. Can't be arsed troubling ma wee brain over it. Good luck to the good people of Scotland, though.
Cheers Whitey and I've got to say I like England having been down on many occasions. Actually I've been to Barnsley more time than I've seen Ben Nevis. And have English relatives. You are absolutely right about the hypocrisy and lies which come out of all politicians mouths. See trying to get a straight answer, fkn impossible. I actually drink with my MP Stewart Hosie SNP and when I do ask him anything I realise he only says what he wants me to know. You really should be taking an interest in this, as it might be that Scotland leaving might well leave England much worse off. Time will tell. I'm really enjoying reading what all you guys have to say on the matter. Seeing things from a different perspective.
I ought to be more interested, pal. You're right. But I end up reading things or listening to things that MP's have said and I get angry and I end up lecturing r lass on why I hate the country/world while she's watching Eastenders and she doesn't appreciate it.
The problem with the Scotland referendum as I see it is that it will be decided by voters who do not know for sure whether they have voted the right way, because it is impossible to know the future. All that we really know for certain is the past, and the past shows that we were better together than we were apart. Good luck to you though, whatever way it goes. I hope that I will still be welcome to walk in the Highlands.
Caught the train from Inverness up to Wick last year - absolutely stunning countryside virtually all the way up, so much so that I applied for a job up there!
To a lesser degree, English people in the regions, especially North of Watford could argue that a Westminster based Parliament has no real relevance to their daily lives, other than ******* it up. I don't think the solution then is to divide the UK up into self governing regions, more to reform the Parliamentary process. Leaving aside historical anger/resentment that The Scots may feel towards English Govts.
Good points Red Rain but if you don't try it you'll never know. Sometimes in life we all have to take a chance or we would get nowhere. Smaller nations than Scotland have in the past achieved independence and seem to get on all right. As I said I look and listen to the staying together case and it appears to be all scare mongering. Where as the separation case is more upbeat and positive.
it seems to me that everytime I hear a member of the public arguing in favour of independence they usually give the reason as being governed by a tory government they didn't vote for,ie Scotland as a whole isn't tory, I really cant fault them as a nation for doing this, electoral boundaries have been doctored in this country to suit the tories in particular,if being independent rids you of the tories then good luck to you.
