    Best player for us today.

Passing was a joy to watch.

    Always wanted it.

    Unlucky not to score.

    MOTM.

Well done lad, can we just get behind him instead of constantly slacking him off. The comments and jeers I heard near me when he was named MOTM was quite shocking and disgraceful

    Agreed

Although must say I didn't hear the jeers when he was given man of the match today.

Certainly his best performance in a while, and the ball he played to O'Brien to centre for the goal was sublime.

agreed - the lad is a real talent and we should appreciate him whilst he's here; gonna be interesting watching his career progress. Would have been further along in his develpment had Mark Robins given him more opportunity and managed him better.

If we had Messi in the team the same few would slag him off every week!!

Butterfield is not the finished goods but has the potential to be a very good player at the highest level.

A further season at least with Hill and Flitcroft developing him further would be a better option for him but I wouldn't blame him for leavening as the unwarranted criticism from a section of the forum and crowd is not helpful.

People are wanting him to do it all. Show bite like a doyle etc. he's not that type of player he's a playmaker, he's not going to win alot of tackle nor go in for alot. Keith is playing him in the centre where you do need a bit of battle and that for me is what we were missing today a player with the bite, he needs playing behind the striker and Doyle needs bringing back, if he's going for good then we need to bring in a midfielder with that defensive quality. You can't expect your defence to cope with wave after wave of attack with no help from the midfield. This needs to be addressed and with that the clean sheets will come.

Butterfield on Twitter: Wonder if the boos I got when I got MOM is due to me not signing the new contract yet or some people knowing nothing about football.

I'm with you Jacob, and I think its because they know sod all about football.

He's right though - he followed it up with saying that he appreciates the support from 99% of Barnsley fans, so he knows its not them all - but theres certainly a percentage (I think he's being generous in saying its 1%) that know absolutely **** all about anything, let alone football. I sit around quite a lot of them.
