Sorry wouldn't send as a PM
I did 4 year B.Ed course way back in 1988 - the course could have been done in 2 years to be honest. The most valuable parts were the bits in school. You canonly learn how to to it by actually teaching- loads of boring lectures don't teachyou anything. The GDP will give you a great start as you are learning on the job and you get a great insight into what the job entails. I'd say go for it

The other alternative isa PGCE which my partner did and enjoyed - it depends as well if you can go through all the loans etc. Obviously in some areas they will pay you£6,000 to train but I'm sure you have to pay it back if you drop out within a number of years.
If you do want to do teaching I suggest you get in contact with a couple of schools and have a look at what it's like from the other side.It will also look good on an application form.
I'll not kid you it's a bloody hard job despite what people think, holidays, hours etc but it's also very rewarding! Hope it helps -Just PMmeif you wnat any more help
Craig
