If someone tells you what their best insurance quote is...how come they never seem to be able to beat it?

But, then they phone back half an hour later saying they can nearly match it, but with all these wonderful extras. And then...another half an hour or so later they phone up offering it to you for like £50 extra with even more extras?!

Insurance for £250 with legal cover, cover to ride abroad, to carry a pillion, to ride other peoples bikes, with the added "bonus" of being able to add an extra 2 bikes onto my cover for an extra £50...they must be really desperate for customers!

What's your point ? That they are trying to get your business ? The tw@ts.

My point being, is that they go on how they can give you the best quote, and best deal etc. etc.

But, you have to persist at them before they come anywhere near giving you a good deal...why start off with extortionate prices?

Don't understand that if they're trying to get business...no one in their right mind is surely gunna pay so much for insurance.

I have insurance, I'm on the road, and I'm about to take out another policy for another bike for a very reasonable fee.

I just don't see how the other companies who offered me insurance at a "reasonable rate" of near enough a grand can actually justify that price compared to some of the others.

Insurance can be a right rip off.

First lesson learnt. Insurance is a rip off. it's just to varying degrees of extortion.

This thankfully is a free market economy. Folk can charge you what they want, but you have the freedom to go where you want to buy insurance.

    Tell thee what to do.

Wait till everyone's out and writhe your back door open with a wrecking bar, you might have to put your shoulder to it. Chuck out some stuff you didn't want anyway and then claim for a load of top wack gear.

Hey presto! You're quids in no matter what quote you accept.

i'm gonna look a real **** here but

many companies don't offer you their best price 1st for the following reasons:
    1. there isn't a great deal of money in bike insurance so they want to max profits as best they can
    2. the people on the phone are on commission. they got more depending on the number of discounted benefits they give you - no free bens = more bonus. more discounted bens = less bonus
    3. they want to see if you're daft enough to take the 1st price

not all companies are like this as it doesn't portray the best image. some companies will do nothing with price and don't want to get involved in bartering.

some companies will charge you a fortune cos they don't want your business. they specialise in certain areas as being the cheapest all round is unwise from a risk perception point of view. therefore if they don't want your biz they will quote you a fortune as they don't want your risk. its better that way rather than just saying they won't quote as you may take the quote. also, if word gets round that a company is very selective in quoting people will be put off calling in case they waste their time
