Whilst the table suggests that we have done second best of the bottom nine it is slightly false because the teams have all played a different number of games (QPR & Barnsley have played most). Furthermore, we have played 7 of 8 home games whilst Southend have played only 4. Therefore, I would speculate that only QPR are in a worse position than us.

Very true. My eyes are obviously painted on. Nevertheless, I do think that Southend are in a better position than indicated by the ppg average.
What it does show... ...is that we've had all our easy games whereas others have still got games left to play against the lower teams.
But its better to have played your games and won em No point having games in bag if you don't beat the opposition. 1.92ppg against the bottom teams isn't bad.

Is it better for... Leeds to be having to play the teams around them or for us to have played the teams around us? Part of me thinks that if we play teams around us them it will be a more difficult game physically, but the points gained will be more valuable because of where the opponents are. Conversley, if you lose in those games then the effect is doubled. BUT, we appear to have more games against people who are higher up the table, so obviously should be better teams. A difficult one to reconcile! Also is it better to have points and have played your games or to have games in hand? Any idea when the other teams are gonna catch up our games? The super reds always seem to fall foul of teams who have played their games and have points inthe bag, hopefully this will be our season for it to work in our favour.</p> Foz</p>
RE: Is it better for... yes but the higher placed teams might have nothing to play for at the end of season!who would you rather play against,a team struggling for there lifes or a mid table team.
