If we're going to accept relegation without so much as a whimper, could you let us know thanks ? I'll start to find other things to do of a weekend.

Transfer window will be far too late. The board must act now. The silence is deaffing.

    Like a pillock

I'll keep going, and I suspect so will most others who are having a grumble.

I never expected it to be easy and I never expected the likes of Chopra to come ( financially impossible ) I also think this team can hold its own, and 4th bottom is success imho. It's just the apparent reluctance to be pro-active that is frustrating me.

All this crap about being "promoted a year early"

Football has never been , and never will be , an exact science , you cannot be promoted a year early . Whatever the plans were in the Summer of 2005 is totally irrelevant now in the Autumn of 2006 . We have to deal with the problems we have in front of us now , not what the perceived problems would be when Andy Ritchie was appointed manager . Anyway , IF we were promoted a year before we planned to be , relegation this season will then put us a year behind those initial plans .

A year early = Championship crowd receipts a year early.

So that argument is null & void.

    RE: Like a pillock

It is a strange one , at the start of the season we looked quite capable of surviving easily.

However it now looks like its gonna be a bit of a battle, a couple of decent signings and it would give everyone a boost. I still think we will stay up but its going to closer than it should be.

I am in the camp that the board wouldn't/couldn't sign the players Ritchie wanted , they have now told him what he can spend and he is trying to improve the squad within that budget. I suspect he needs to find some uncut diamonds as I believe that the funds available are not of a level at which he can improve the squad with established players.

Lets look on the bright side...

I know we'd all love to be in the play off places but i'm pretty sure most of us never expected that... so what the next best thing..

Being in a relegation dog fight !!! every game is like a cup final now, loads better than mid table boredom...

I'd be delighted if we went in to the last game of the season with our fate still in our own hands... a win to stay up!!!!

That's all we can ask at the mo, - that we keep our fate under our control.

RE: Lots of talk of people giving up and never going again,

A guy I know who is a season ticket holder has stopped going.
He is sending his Wife to accompany his Daughter.

There are a few in the East Stand Upper who are saying they are going to stop going if Ritchie stays as Manager.

Who do they reckon we should have then?

I notice that he hasnt thrown his season ticket in the bin. Thats hardly taking a stand is it , should have the courage of his convictions and throw the ST in the bin.

A bit of advice for you ...

... if you want rid of Ritchie so badly, and you're not sure how to convince the magnificent Gord Shepherder that the fans don't like Andy anymore ... have you considered getting a study conducted of Super Reds fans?

I suggest you maybe use milkmen to canvas opinion.

    Glad to help.

She's only going so the Daughter doesn't get upset.

I have said it before and I will say it again.
If Ritchie was to leave this club the new manager would be selected from the 50+ candidates who would apply for the job.

Yeah but 49 would be young lads who reckon they can manage because they got Barnsley promoted on FM2006.

The other one would be you...but you'd be over qualified.

That's hardly being realistic is it mate?
Some people on here think that AR is the only person alive who could manage this club.

There are plenty of ex-International players out there who would jump at the chance of managing Barnsley. We are are not a "massive club" of course like Wednesday but we are a good medium sized club with a very good training and coaching environment. Our facilities are as good as you find in the Premiership. I will be at the Sheff.U Academy later this week and it's only in the last two or three years that they have had the facilities to match ours.I would even rate our training facilities better than Wednesdays.

I think we could all be surprised as who would be interested in managing our Club.
