They should have chucked a couple on the pitch

Might have sparked things up a bit

I don't think that's anything to joke about.

A friend of mines 11yo lost an eye because of a firework. You should think before you post. Disgraceful. (N) </p>

In no way could that post be taken offensively!

This place is barmy at times.

    RE: Give over

Aye, he was joking about the inadequacies of our beloved football team ... not the firework, which, if he hadn't been distracted by (*coughs) a ....distraction,... would have taken his shoe off.

    He WAS!

... and he heroically checked on the well being of several people in the area at the time.

He's encouraging the throwing of incendiary devices onto the pitch.

And you say it's barmy to be offended by that! Blimey.

It's clear to anyone that he wasn't being serious. If we were ultra careful with everything we post/say in case an unfortunate victim was reading/listening that might be offended, nowt would be written/said at all.

    Dear me

He's doing nothing of the sort. He's having a joke about the lacklustre performance of the players.

Have you heard the expression "J.C.R. / Devaney/ Hammill * (*delete as appropriate) needs s rocket up his rear end!" ?? It's not meant to be taken literally.

Given that he was with us at the time the firework went off I can assure you that no-one, including Stahlrost found the incident amusing.

I can also guarantee that no-one who was there would find the injury of your friend's daughter amusing either.

Just a joke, nothing more nothing less.

    Come on blackadder lighten up

He didn't 'encourage the throwing of incendiary devices onto the pitch', he made a light hearted joke.

Jokes can be made about the most serious of things and the key part of them being funny is that it is clear to everyone that it is a joke. Now lets be honest here OB, did you honestly believe that he was seriously suggesting that a firework be thrown on the pitch during a game? No of course you didn't so stop pretending that you did.
