Haha, I enjoyed that. Initially. Then my ears hurt. They've apparently turned the new album in and it should be out for the summer. I know folk worry it's pointless without Tom DeLonge but if you heard the live shows with Skiba, you'd have to be excited. The bloke plays guitar better than Tom ever could and he's got a proper punk voice. It sounds like proper, early blink again. Crappy punk rock, as the saying goes. Whereas Tom kept trying to take it to a different place, trying to get them to mature and sound like U2 or something. **** that. I hope the album kicks arse and DeLonge regrets packing it in to write ******* novels and make space music, the soppy get.* *I still listen to anything Tom puts out though because he's part of the genius that is blink-182. (and thanks for giving me an excuse to bore folk about my band) #YouBlink182Reds
I'm looking forward to hearing it if I'm honest. I got bored by the later stuff they released but I really like Alkaline Trio and especially Matt's voice, so seems a good fit to me
The last album was their worst. Where they phoned it in basically. A handful of good songs, 5 or 6. But the other half was proper filler and you can't say that about any of their previous albums. I blame DeLonge for that. He wouldn't get in the studio with the others and it showed. A new album and a reds promotion in the same year?
Dude ranch was released in the same year as our promotion to the Premier league and their greatest hits during our last promotion campaign. All signs Sent from my I-Oven using the internets
Iv got a real soft spot for Toms space music, it doesn't fit with Blink clearly, but I love A&A, probably even more so than Blink sometimes. Sent from my iPhone
The last album was released when we were tearing the Championship up under Keith early doors. Another sign. Come on you blinking reds.
I love Tom's music. I'm just ****** off that he prioritizes all that stuff over the band that made him and allowed him to do his side project ********. It is good ******** though. The basterd.
I'm old enough to have seen the Clash, the Ramones, the Undertones & SLF in their prime & see bands like the Pixies & Sonic Youth too. Blink 182 ... sorry
I've seen the Pixies 6 times. I've seen NOFX, Black Flag, yadda yadda. I've seen a lot of bands. I'm not in the market of saying what's better, cooler, more niche or whatever. Neither do I compare eras. Fact is, I'm 34 years old and as a 14 year old lad I fell in love with blink's music and related to the toilet humour, the not giving a ****, acting your shoe size, being immature etc. Playing fast music, simple chords, shouting rather than singing, silly as **** videos. They don't say they're the greatest musicians, and one of their famous tag lines is indeed 'Crappy Punk Rock'. Although to be fair, there isn't a better drummer on the planet than Travis Barker. This chap here has gone to extreme lengths to prove blink are punk though. http://poly-graph.co/punk/
Haha, see my other response. Crappy punk rock. Pop punk. Skater punk. SoCal punk. Whatever. They're my favourite band and I've (not) grown up with them.
Didn't really mean that, but I am 51 & try & keep an open mind about all kinds of music. Now't wrong with Blink, a bunch of catchy songs, good musicians. Just didn't really change anything. The bands I mentioned did, but music goes on & I play a fair few Blink songs in ska / punk type sets, as people like them. Not trying to be clever, or say my music as any better. If you were my age & saw SLF live or even the Undertones you would have been caught up in the music, anger, politics, but also unity of the time. (I'm editing this, to give the following example). SLF gig, with everyone singing Alternative Ulster, which was not a pro catholic or loyalist song, but a song of peace & unity.
No problem, mate. I always get folk telling me they're not this or they're this etc. Blink I mean. Like I'm arsed or going to turn around and go "****, you're right.. I'll stop listening to em immediately" I'm actually listening to blink right now. My love for them runs as deep as my love for BFC.
