Got sky broadband all connected up yesturday. The router the've gid us is dog ****. poor signal downstairs and no signal upstairs anybody recommend a **** hot router? Cheers
Think you can only use Sky routers. I tried setting up one of my own and it would not work. Have a word with Sky and tell them your problem, I know the current router I have from them is fantastic, best I've ever had, excellent signal strength all over the house.
Don't Sky use Nethear routers anyway? Old mans using a Sky router an has no probs anywhere in the house. Check the antenna and make sure you ain't got it boxed in a corner surrounded by metal (pc case). Also check wireless is enabled, it may not be at default. Could also be your laptop or PC that isn't configured. TO be fair, you ain't gona get much improvement buying another. The Sky ones aren't bad.
Sky do use Netgear, mine is about 3 years old and my mate got it intalled this year and they are the same.
The reason its **** is because the whole of sky broadband is ****. i have been trying to view a page since 7 and it has just loaded, along with all the others. paying for the full speed and getting less than 2mb, i have 4 different routers in my room all sky and this is the best i have had so far
been with them about 8 months not had a problem, signal is fine everything loads up and i download tons of stuff.
I got a Sagem router when i joined sky, which was a big pile of ****. Swapped it for a Netgear one and now its immense, somewhere on the web theresa tool which you need to extract your user id and password from skys router so you can use them ina new one.
Be warned though, i have heard of sky cutting off internet supply to people who do this because in the terms and conditions it does say you MUST use there equipment.
