900+ mile journey for a match = travel of 3 to 4 hours by plane/ coach. Can that be a good thing? I'm not sure it is. I'd stick my neck out and say it's ill advised. I'd be looking for somewhere else. Euro 2012: England will not change training base - Fabio Capello Page last updated at 19:40 GMT, Friday, 2 December 2011 Fabio Capello insists England will not change their choice of training base in Poland despite the Euro 2012 draw which gave his team three matches in Ukraine. Having selected Krakow, England will face journeys of up to 930 miles to Donetsk and 540 miles to Kiev. When asked if he would consider changing their camp, the England boss told BBC Sport: "Absolutely not. "We have found a really good place. I am happy with the facilities and we will stay in the same place in Krakow."
Not ideal I agree. But perhaps an excursion to nearby Auschwitz, Ostwiecim might give our heroes a dose of humility and perspective that is so sorely and evidently lacking. I'd be absolutely gobsmacked if that is on Capello's agenda but might serve them well in the competition and frankly, in life also.
I realise that, but the schedule is tight. It leaves less time for training. Every trip is energy sapping, and removes the opportunity for training/ relaxation etc.
You think?! Ferdinand and Barton won't be going, so who will be updating us on their "team-bonding" historical visits? Rooney, ha ha?!
