For those trying to shed a few pounds of fat for spring.
Iread recently about a clever way to tackle homeostasis (commonly known as starvation mode.)When on a calorie controlled diet alot of people find that their fat loss suddenly stops even though they're sticking to a calorific intake that should see them losing. This is because their metabolism has slowed to come into line with their intake and, instead of dipping into the fat reserves to make up the deficit in required energy, the body burns (delivers less useable) energy. This explains the lack of energy and sluggishness many people find accompanies the sudden cessation of fat loss.
There is, however, a clever way round this.If youfluctuate your calorie intake you can baffle your body, stop it from going into homeostasis, keep receiving maximum energy from your food and continue to lose fat.
So the bottom line, without having to know all the above, is -
* If you're on say 1500 calories a day have 1200 one day, 1800 the next, then 1200, then 1800 and so on. You could time the higher intake days to coincide with training/exersise days if you like.
Simples!

You're right; it's really important to fluctuate your calorie intake. If you sit in a calorie deficit for more than a few days your body does react as it thinks its being starved and actually tries to retain as much fat as possible. A really good book for anyone looking to shed a few pounds can be found here www.burnthefat.com I've just lost 6 stone in the last 12 months using this.
RE: Wow.... I'll start that on Monday.
I've got some more new stuff and tweaks to add to the programme mate. We should have a sit-down.

Good tip. Another good tip too... As soon as you wake up, eat some juicy fruit. You'll basically trick your body into breaking out of starvation mode, whilst also giving yourself some energy to allow you to do any morning cardio first thing. You should never cardio on an empty stomach in the morning, because while your body is in starvation mode, it will hang on desperately to as much fat as possible. So, by kickstarting your metabolism with a piece of juicy fruit, you will not only be getting a good start to the day, but also, your cardio will be vastly more efficient.
RE: If you're doing any training at all you need to start the day with protein.
Fructose carbs are best just before and during exercise and some more protein immediately after.

RE: Fantastic - well done mate. nt Ta very much. Feel a lot better for it, also nice not being a tuib of lard anymore!
