Fairytale of New York - Pogues Frosty The Snowman - Ronettes Christmas Baby Please Come Home - Darlene Love Motown did some brilliant covers of lots of Christmas songs a few were on The Goodfellas
White Christmas by Bing Crosby Bing was my late Father's favourite singer and this epitomised both Bing and my Dad. It still brings a lump to my throat after all these years. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYDX75lUykw A couple of personal favourites of mine from my long lost & distant youth. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIUlEUWKloM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXCEdrnaFlY
These are my favourites: Band Aid (original) Fairy tale of New York - The Pogues Last Christmas - Wham Little Drummer Boy - Bowie and Bing Crosby When a child is born - Johnny Mathis
Little Drummer Boy is ruined to me now after reading that Brady and Hindley played it while torturing Lesley Anne Downey, it gives me the creeps
Just logged on and about to start same thread, great minds think alike eh. Mine is Wham, last christmas. Love christmas me, all the magic that comes with it, took my little girl to see santa on friday at meadowhall and her face was a treat! Even as a grown up theres something special about this time of year. Seasons greetings to you all
Fairy tale of New York is my best but really would love for someone to release a new version of stop the cavalry for our troops, said this for the last few years but that's just me
Low There's an American indie band I like called Low - generally pretty slow, quiet, fairly miserable stuff from a group of mormons. They brought out a Christmas album in '99 and Mrs Burgundy Red lets me play it in public once a year, despite it being only marginally less miserable than the rest of their albums. So I'll go for the opening track "Just Like Christmas" as it has fond memories for me of watching previously happy people wondering why on earth I'm playing them this ****.
Re: Low Might have to check that out seeing as I normally hate Christmas songs Shakin Stevens - Merry Christmas Everyone just never fails to cheer though! I'd go for Wintersong by Sarah McLachlan, and Sweet Bells by Kate Rusby
Probaby the pogues But , I always like listening to The Snowman/Walking in the Air - probably cos my teenage son really liked when he was a toddler
blink-182 'I won't be home for christmas' . "it's christmas time, again, it's time to be nice to the people you can't stand, all year, I'm growing tired of all this christmas cheer, you people scare me, please stay away from my home, if you don't wana let me down, then leave the presents and then leave me alone.."
