Just for a bit of fun through the summer 1st place Mauro Bressan 2nd place Zlaten 3rd place Daz Honorable mention for stankovic making Neuer chase thin air
Not being funny but Aylotts chip against Brighton in the League cup followed closely by Hendries goal against Schmeichel at Old Trafford. Non Barnsley goals...perhaps Van Basten for Holland v Russia (I think) and Maradonna v England in 86 when he waltzed through the team from the halfway line
Campbell-Ryce v Donny Hammill v Millwall Non Barnsley, probably Roberto Carlos' dimension warping freekick v France 97
Hammill vs Millwall Howard vs Liverpool Non Barnsley Messi vs Eibar (saw it live in stadium) Sturridge vs Wales, the scenes in the pub were so good that day.
From a Barnsley perspective it’ll always be Hammill at Wembley against Millwall. Probably my favourite goal ever. As for others, Owen against Argentina when I was a kid in the 98 World Cup. Zidane’s left footed volley against Leverkusen in the champions league final. Gerrard’s last minute volley against West Ham to take it to extra time in the FA Cup final. Bale’s overhead kick against Liverpool in the champions league final. I’m not particularly fond of Man Utd but I thought Garnacho’s bicycle kick early this season was incredible. All stunning goals.
One of my favourite was one we weren't there to witness. Patrick Schmidtz against forest to take us to that last game against Brentford. Think i punched a light bulb out in the house celebrating. Still maintain if fans had been in the ground the roof would have come off
Excluding Reds goals... These are some of my favourites. Not necessarily the best technically, but from an enjoyment perspective... Bobby Stokes - Southampton v Man Utd, FA Cup final 1976 Ian Portfield - Sunderland v Leeds, FA Cup final 1973 Ronnie Radford - Hereford v Newcastle, FA Cup 3rd rd 1972 The FA cup is a joke these days, compared to the 70s.
Barnsley away at Halifax. Geo Hamstead miss hit a corner and it trickled along the line. Their goalie told Andy Burgin the full back to leave it , he lifted his leg and it trickled in at the near post. Never laughed as much in my life.
I saw Disco score away at Plymouth on a Tuesday night in 2008, maybe not the very best, but very special….
My all time favourite goal was Odour against Brentford. I can still see stars from running around the front room. Weird, horrible times and was one of very few happy moments during that 12 month spell.
