I remember waking up after a January deadline day under Davey to see that we had signed JCR (I'd been a big fan of his since he was on loan at chesterfield years earlier) and somebody else - great stuff Davey was always good for a deadline day story
Re: errrrm but that was still a deadline day Duffus Read the opening post of the thread, yer gormless pillock.
We signed Andranik, Hammill, Bogdanovic and Mifsud all at the same time didn't we. Then turned Wednesday over at Hillsborough the week after. Macken was signed the year before I believe.
March '84, we signed Paul Futcher and a lad who's name escapes me, the first game after that was Derby at home and we stuffed them 5-1 with the lad-who's-name-escapes me scoring one of the goals.
Calvin Plummer! Of course. I've been trying to find details of the transfers or the 5-1 win and so far I've found a couple of references to Futcher signing in december '83 and the attendance for that match being 6,500. I'm sure both of these are wrong, I was at the game and I reckon it was easily the usual 10,000 and I'm sure it was a deadline-day signing and the Derby game was Futcher's debut for the Reds.
Thanks mate, I thought I was losing it for a minute. I think it was that game where my dad tapped me on the shoulder at half-time and said "Is there a score?". He couldn't remember the first half or travelling to the game. Turned out he'd had a minor Epileptic episode. I think it was 1-0 at half time, but who was the scorer?
Ah, sorry, but I can't help you with that I'm afraid, I can't recall, mate. I'm certain Turvey Tyke will know, he's the guy to go to for this sort of info.
