...and I was proved right. Strange team selection from KH though with only Addison & Perkins in midfield. it meant we created next to nothing in the final third. Why Dagnall has been thrown straight into the team is a mystery to me, surely he has to earn the right to start? I know options are very limited midfield wise but I'd have liked to see Wiseman start in the middle. He has bags of energy, two decent feet, can tackle and is a decent runner with the ball. O'Brien is also a big miss at present, the sooner he returns the better.
If we are to maintain mid-table safety we simply have to stop conceding goals for fun, particularly at home. Jay Mac is a liability and I can't understand why we aren't using the experience of Rob Edwards more.
The only bonus today was the performance of McNulty in midfield late on. Could he play the holding role on a regular basis? He has pace, a decent first touch, can tackle and also pick a pass so he may be worth a try. Can't do any worse than Addison that's for sure.
A bad day at the office but no need to panic yet. Keith Hill has some work to do in the transfer market over the next eleven days. Two midfielders (the priority being a playmaker), a left back and maybe a wide player would be on my shopping list. Over to you Keith....
