When I purchased my season ticket I knew full well was going to be a long season. Infact a very long one. Did it put me off, No.
I should have. Had one with my Dad since we got promoted, my Dad decided not to renew, wish i did the same. £300 for another shoddy season. I am beginning to think we might be better off going down, where we can compete financially, and have a better chance of winning more than losing.
Surely you don't mean that? We'd lose millions of pounds to play terrible teams. You think season ticket sales are bad now, if we go down.....
No but in my opinion it is going to happen anyway, UNLESS we get that defence sorted. But we haven't and we won't.
Purchased my ticket knowing we are a SMALL club who have punched well above our weight. This season was always going to be harder than previous. All the clubs who came up have plenty of cash to splash. Plus the clubs coming down.
Our history as the club with most years in the second tier counts for nothing. The financial landscape is different now and we are treading water and whether it is this year or next or the one after, sooner or later we will succumb and go down. And when we do, the third tier will become our long term natural position. I acknowledge that it is not where the club want to be, and if we could compete properly the neither would I, I would prefer to be in this division bashing it with the big guys. But all I know is that right now, I have little appetite for football because it becomes very tiring watching us lose week after week after week after.....I can't justify going away any more - what's the point. If we were in a league below and competing properly then I may have more enthusiasm. If we could find a way of competing at this level then brilliant. if we can't - get it over with - this is like a slow death of my interest in the whole boring, predictable, expensive shebang.
The only way we would compete is with some billionaire foreign owner. Now the question is would we want some Johnny Foreigner messing with our club? Would it work? I doubt it personally, but yes i agree, we WILL go down eventually, and i fear it is going to be this season. To be honest its not that big a deal, its only football, however, the thing that makes it difficult is the people in my social circle, Leeds fans, Sheffield United and Wednesday fans etc etc. But i suppose thats part and parcel of being a football supporter. Football in general is **** now anyway, money wise.
I know what you're saying but going down would be a complete disaster for us. The championship is not a level playing field financially but it's better than the pub league.
