Felt a lot of pride yesterday

I think ever since the club sacked Danny Wilson there's been a big PR campaign to get the fans on board or back on board in some cases.

We've seen loads more posts of players at schools, the players & Johnson going to people's houses, Cranie, Bree & Holgate in the ticket office the other night.

The cynical part of me says its just to rake in season ticket sales but either way they've got in my good books again.

I did consider not renewing next season, I'm a bit hard up & I felt the club had lost its soul a bit with Foster, Steele & Hassell all moving on, Stones been flogged on the cheap & sacking Wilson but I've got my love back for the club.

In Scowen, Hourihane & Winnall we've got 3 gems who I like for differing reasons, who all showed there quality yesterday (you should be fined a months wages if Josh Scowen beats you in the air at a corner twice!) and then you've got a group of young players who are all growing in confidence & getting better.

Smith was outstanding yesterday, drawing free kicks in dangerous area's, beating men, putting great crosses in & getting a brilliant assist at the end. A bit back I thought he should be number 2 to a new left back, now I think we should be bringing in someone to be his back up.

Holgate looks a class act at centre back and as much as I like Cranie, two footballing centre backs doesn't generally work so I'd let him move on & give the role to Holgate. Chuffed for him to get his first goal as he's come close a few times.

Bree was great as well. Lots of clever balls played between the centre back & left back that make it obvious he came through the academy as a midfielder.

Maris did well as well, faded a bit but that was probably because he knew he'd be coming off to give Oates a run & ran his ******** off. Well worth another year to see what he's got.

Oates did well too, great maturity to square for Hourihane rather than to try & get his first Barnsley goal.

Digby came on & looked decent, I've always felt there's a good player in him, like many big lads he just needs the game time to get his sharpness.

I'm rambling now but there's no much better in football than seeing local academy lads come through & do well. Makes me proud & a bit jealous that they're living my dream.

Oh & I met Lee Johnson in town, what a great guy. Only went over to shake his hand but ended up having 5 minutes talking with him. His words 'it's all about promotion next season'. And he's right. We're only two wingers & another strike away from having a quality first 11.

    Can't wait for August.
