As I was cheering their first goal, part of me felt better when chelsea ran out winners,
I think I wanted our defeat of chelsea to be a bit special, not summat anybody can do.

Sorry Southend! thought you were decent though and the black lad on the right wing looked handy.

Southend hardly got a kick all night

Even when Chelsea went a goal behind, there was no way an upset was on the cards...

A mistake to play with eleven men behind the ball....

But they did knock the ball around very impressively for a div 1 side, especially first half before Chelsea ground them down. Moussa looked like a very useful player - good first touch and could spot the not-obvious pass with great accuracy.

Pulling everyone back behind the ball gave them no out-ball and meant that Chelsea kept coming back and back at them. They had no holding forward to bring the team forwards into attacking mode in the Chelsea half.

Impressive passing and first touch in the first half by the Shrimpers.

Nice to see Kevin Betsy getting a run at the end.
