This appointment intrigues me more than our new Head Coach.

Our new Assistant, Ferrari Sibla is a devotee of the Ekkono coaching method.

This could be the real key to giving us the discipline, structure and identity that was sadly missing under Schopp.

The Ekkono Method is a training methodology which objective is to ensure that players are capable of correctly interpreting the game and finding intelligent solutions in the field.

    Four major guidelines

Games: Design and continuous readjustment of the training tasks to make sure they are embedded in the learning context

Perception: Perceptive training is included in the content planning

Questions: When training, the players are confronted with problematic situations and they are asked to answer questions

Concepts: Training contents is not enough; concepts need to be trained as well

Coaches often specialize in improving a players’ physical and technical aspects because these qualities are perceived as the most important. However, there is a third key part to the game that is often overlooked.

This is the cognitive aspect of the game – the way players perceive the game and make crucial decisions in the field.

First and foremost they need to get a lot of the players much fitter so they're not blowing out their arses after 60 mins!

Stuff a stoat! What ever happened to pass and move, then shoot at goal. Simple game once.

Most footballers aren’t that bright. Some of this stuff will blow their minds, certainly would mine!
Sometimes the game these days is over thought. It’s the Championship not the Champions League.

Interesting, I think you need to keep things simple , defined roles for each player , reinforced in training , Val was good at that

I was only saying today that I think half the problem this season is that the players are allowed to think for themselves. Under Val they had triggers and plays drilled into them and when the centre back received the ball, the front three would make a run into the channel.
Because of this none of our players really understand each others game.

Crikey. Will we be conducting trsining on some remote and lonely mountain top? The forests and scree far below covered in eternal snows. The sound of the monastery bell sounding a ghostly echo through the thin, frozen air?

Fair point. How many players in the Leeds squad would win Mastermind though? Yet adopted Bielsa’s methods. Graham Potter and his impact on Brighton, Swansea or Östersund? Thomas Frank at Brentford?

I thought Bielsa was very set on doing things the same way day in day out on the training pitch?

I think we should wait and see what this Ekkono method is, it might be sumat Alex Ferguson never thought of, or there again we could be heading into realms of daftness.

    According to https://soccer-coaches.com/marcelo-bielsa-style-coaching/ on Bielsa;

    Code:
He creates videos for individual players and has long discussions with each of them to explain their exact roles and responsibilities they have in all different tactical situations. For building up play,

Bielsa focuses on creating space, dragging opponents away and timing movements to receive or act as a link player. This work is then applied on the training pitch, as each combination and pattern is worked on repeatedly. Each pass and movement is choreographed within a set phase and done over and over again, until Bielsa’s players are able to perfect it. This is why, when you watch his teams, the same patterns are observed and you can see the method being actualised.
Surely like other coaches mentioned previously (Potter & Frank), this is how you truly develop a distinct style and identity for your team. Players perform by instinct within a collective framework and plan.

I prefer style, control, damage and aggression.

Craig Charles for manager, with Professor Noel Sharkey and that bloke with the high voice who drove Chaos 2 as his assistants.
