Fair result in my opinion. We beat them first half they came back strong in second. Maybe a couple of decisions went against us ie goal disallowed and pen appeal but we got the luck with the goal of the season from Nick Colgan via one or two deflections and the corner we gained from Wright doing some near GBH on their keeper resulting in us creating the second goal.
As for individuals, Colgan made a couple of good saves that kept us ahead. Dont think he could have done much about the goals. Ozzy had a bit of an off day, Kay did fine, Hecky was too often drawn out of position and Reid made too many errors again including one that led to their first goal. Redi is the most overated player at the club and has no attributes that i would consider to be in a captain.
Midfield played well, Shuker s*it hot at moment, Devaney has gained his confidence and McPhail showed his class once again. Howard a bit quiet today but did his job.
Up front Nads did ok but sometimes he needs to know when to pass rather than shoot. A pass could hav put us 3-0 up, yet he shot over. As for Wright i cant even begin to think how Ritchie thinks this guy can play football. No evidence yet.
Subs all did their bit in steadying a rocking ship.

In my opinion, Ritchie should have subbed Wright very early on, and i would have taken Reid off and put Hassell on to mark Eastwood.

Overall though we are still in with a slim chance of second place and a great chance of the play offs. I would have taken that at the start of the season.

Well done lads, a thoroughly entertaining game.

Also why was the Southend manager allowed to to harrass the ref at half time and stay in his dugout in second half where as Ritchie bounces the ball and gets sent to the stand?

    Southend's management were a disgrace

Agree about Shuker, certainly seems to have re-discovered his confidence.

We said pretty much the same,Wright should have been taken off after he got lectured again just after his booking by the tit in ther yellow shirt, his game is about agression and after that he was backing off all the time, thought Hassel should have been on earlier too although I thought Austin was struggling today so no probs with that swap just thought both subs were too late and the damage had been done,on reflection probably a fair result although very worrying how much space we gave them in the box at times.

    thing is............

and it's not a criticism of him but defenders will always look better when the forwards and midfield are playing well and the opposition aren't-ie Oldham whereas when they are under pressure from a good side ie Southend they will look more error prone

    agree

I thought McPhail looked to be carrying an injury from when he got clattered in first 10 minutes and Howard looked a bit immobile yesterday as well, two games in 3 days maybe too much for him.Austin looked a yard slower as well ,when Hassell came on we looked more confident at the back.

Why wasn't Southen's manager sent to the stands?

Intimidation of the referee. Trspassing on the field of play. Boys in blue, where were you?

    GBH on their keeper

The third one which resulted in the corner for our second goal was not a foul by Wright, Keepers own defender pushed him, Thats from the referees assessr after the match who had watched all three with the officials on video. Two people were offside for Hayes goal, Only problem at the moment with offsides is there is no standard interpretation of the rules.
