    Hi there,

    Am currently writing a piece for a new online Football League magazine (www.stayingup.co.uk) focuses on a different club in each issue. This bi-weekly issue is focusing on Barnsley! I just have a few questions to ask somebody on here about your club, to go in the magazine, so any help would be very much appreciated! This questions are ;

    1. Why do you support Barnsley?
    2. What's the best thing about supporting Barnsley?
    3. Greatest player?
    4. Greatest moment?
    5. What lies ahead.......? (What do you think the clubs future is)

    Thanks a lot guys!

    Nathan

1, I am a Barnsley man, born and bred, I can see no reason to support a club that I have no link to. I have been watching Barnsley since 1967 when i was 5 years old and I will never stop .
2, When we win aganist the odds its fantastic, when we lose its bloody awful but we still want to be there next time we win.
3,In my time supporting the Reds there is only one in my opinion, Ronnie Glavin. Or as he was known GOD!!!
4,There has been some fantastic moments, but the greatest moment in my time was getting promotion to the Premiership, because it should not have happened to BFC, it was something that happened to other clubs, Ask Mark Maghee(?) about what should have happened.
Also signing Allan Clarke as manager, how we did that I will never know, but he was the catalyst for a fantastic era at Oakwell.
5,I think we are going to be just fine thankyou, we will have some great days and plenty of horrid days, but all in all we will be fine.

    1. Born locally, taken to my first match as a child by my father in the 1960's & been going ever since.
    2. Barnsley represent my town, my community and I'm proud of them both.
    3. Ronnie Glavin.
    4. Winning promotion to the Premier League in 1997 whilst playing a wonderful brand of football.
    5. A well run Championship club with little or no debts.

    2. Affinity with others in the area - see 1 above

    3. Mr Glavin.......scourge of S6 postcode......... when he had the ball at his feet the crowd rose as one.....

    There you go:

    1. Why do you support Barnsley?
I was looking for a gay friendly club & Brighton is too far away

    2. What's the best thing about supporting Barnsley?
    The free half time toast

    3. Greatest player?
Egbutt Nobacon, our 1960's Peruvian winger

    4. Greatest moment?
The 0-0 draw away at Bradford when it didn't rain

    5. What lies ahead.......? (What do you think the clubs future is)
    Relegation, administration & oblivion.
Or possibly promotion, riches & utopia.
Who knows? Who cares? It's only a bloody game.

    1. Why do you support Barnsley?
It's my local club and I grew up through the (very short) glory period of our clubs history.

    2. What's the best thing about supporting Barnsley?
Being the underdogs, nobody ever expects us to do anything, so it's brilliant when we do.

    3. Greatest player?
This all depends on when you were born, for me, Neil Redfearn was the best player, in the best ever Barnsley team, however my fellow fans, who are a little bit older say Ronnie Glavin.

    4. Greatest moment?
Promotion to the premier league, as I say, we're the underdogs, so nobody expected it, and nobody expects it again,

    5. What lies ahead.......? (What do you think the clubs future is)
Promising, we're ensuring we don't make the same mistakes twice, after dropping out of the premier league, and having a heavy spending few years, we found ourselves on the brink. However, we're a tightly run ship these days, and could become prominent again when new rules to the FL kick in.

    1. Why do you support Barnsley?
Was taken to watch as a punishment for misbehaving at 12yo and it grew from there
    2. What's the best thing about supporting Barnsley?
Always the underdog, often laughed at but on the whole we give as good as we get. More good moments than bad.
    3. Greatest player?
    Ronnie Glavin
    4. Greatest moment?
For me the early 80's. Total football, large crowds and an amazing atmosphere (home AND away) that was hard to beat. ANYWHERE. Promotion would have been sweeter then than when it actually happened. But I guess that was still sweet :)
    5. What lies ahead.......? (What do you think the clubs future is)
Much of the same. Overall uncertaintly intermingled with a few doses of glory. We'll survive.
