How exactly does it work in League 1?

I only ask as looking at Sunderland, Mcgeady is said to be on £31k a week there. Cattermole dropped to £40k when they were relegated. Imagine Leadbitter etc arent on peanuts either.

Add that to the £4m paid for Grigg, and no matter what your attendances are you're a decent portion of income on wages surely?

Will make it all the sweeter if we take 2nd place like.

    Correct!
Had the same conversation with Wednesday fans ...when 4 or 5 of their top boys were in in the 30 to 40 grand per week bracket. "yea but we get the fans ...dunt we!"
Do the maths....it doesn't compute....if barnsley pay say 4 grand on avarage per player, you need 10 times the crowds we get to pay the wages etc etc.
So in answer to your question ......I don't know how ffp works!!

Isn't this the last season of parachute payments?

If it is and they don't go up their will be a huge turnover of players due to FFP.

Parachute payments in the third division. Unbelievable.

According to Wiki they got 41 mil last year, 34 this season and next season is their last where they will get about 15 mil.

Ticket sales don’t touch the sides of wages for almost any Football club these days.
There was a piece done last year(I think), about revenue etc where it showed a lot of clubs in top 2 divisions could survive without a single ticket sale, due to mainly TV revenue and marketing.

Of course this would be subjective as if you have no fans TV revenue would quickly dwindle and marketing would become almost subjective.

I think the point was that the clubs in question could let fans in for nothing, or at a significantly reduced amount, and still have enough to pay the players' obscene wages. The overpriced ticket prices charged by many of those clubs are unnecessary.

I hate parachute payments, these should be scrapped and clubs needs to start and be more smarter. Pay premiership wages in the prem and have clauses to drop to championship wages in the championship and so on.

Players might work harder and not fold like a Fulham this season for example if relegation meant they’ll be hurt financially.

Also if we scrap parachute payments we’ll get rid of clubs like Sunderland who have never learned and kept players on ridiculous contracts with no reduced wage clauses.
