This is one of (if not THE) best managers we've ever had. What he has done with what he has been given is miraculous. This will be sorted this month. I doubt many of those posting criticism have ever watched Division Four football. For goodness sake grow a pair, some of you.
Well said. And this month let’s hope the new board listen to Hecky and provide proven championship players. If we don’t sign proven championship players we are going to really struggle. There is a place for lower league or untested foreign talent like McGeehan and Thiam etc but Now is most definitely not the time. A few proven championship players will make a massive difference. Still gutted we are out of the cup. But if it reinforces what Hecky has asked for that is one small crumb of comfort.
I was more disappointed that Fred Dibnah scored against us today especially as he’s been dead a while now
He has had a good 12 months followed by a poor 12 months. The good 12 months coincided with a good set of players, most of, if not all who were here before he took over. The poor 12 months coincided with those players leaving. Its not rocket science to realise why things have gone wrong but its also foolish to believe that hecky is some sort of footballing messiah based on a good season with players that were already here. I don't want hecky sacking and hope he is given time and resources to sort it out but its not hard to understand why some fans have concerns. The change of ownership is hopefully what hecky needs to put the doubters to bed but it might also be the stick that people ultimately use to beat him with if nothing changes
I don't understand the meltdown by some. We're unbeaten in the last 3 league games and lost only 1 of our last 5 in that competition. We've kept 3 clean sheets in that run and only conceded 3 goals in total. My thoughts today were of relief that the wheels had only come off in a low priority cup game. I couldn't give a toss about the FA Cup when our league status is in peril. There's even mitigating circumstances in being down to 10 men for almost half the game, having lost the only guy we've got who can play the defensive midfield role.
Regardless of how good hecky is certain people will always moan. They moaned when we were struggling in the league below. They moaned last season when players who were going to leave anyway were sold. They moaned that we bought within budget this season. They moaned about a strategy that made us attractive enough to buyers who could change our future. They moan every time we lose and if we do get to the Premier League they'll STILL be moaning every time we lose. Moaning is what they love to do.
no that is Mark Robins who made Oakwell a fortress with a stunning home record, Established us as a midtable championship side and made quality signings such as Trippier and Shackell. The first 2 have not been achieved at this level consistently by any other in my 14 years as a supporter. Hecky is about on par with Keith Hill. Pushing for the playoffs before the board flogged the best players and then a shocking year followed afterward. Only difference is one took us over in the championship and one took us over with the best squad in League 1 and a JPT Final already wrapped up so it makes the latter look better. Pretty sure Keith would've achieve the same with Vaz Te, Drinkwater etc or the 2016 team if he took over in the same scenario. There's also the clear popularity contest in regards to a bloke from Rochdale who criticized the fanbase and a man from Royston who says what folk want to hear.
Tell me why Mark Robins left and if you understand that you ought to understand better the position Hecky has been put in.
I did refer to the fact that Hecky had the rug pulled under his feet as did Hill (and Robins). That summer in 2011 was the classic cheap option of cutting transfer funds to barely anything and appointing a lower league manager after the previous one got pissed off with it.
Why would you want somebody who got us promoted, won us a cup, got us to within one point of the championship playoffs before he was f***ed over sacked? When that same man is a genuine fan, ex player and a down to earth, honest bloke I just can't get my head around it.
