Have you thought of Virgin. Been with them for a while now and had no issues, also they have just doubled everyones broadband without any further cost, i was on 10MB which went upto 20MB but because my router was old they sent me their new super hub free of charge and increased my broadband again to 30mb.

They have some good deals on at the moment, especially with TIVO

Do you play on-line games, stream movies or download massive files routinely? If yes, then it would be worth doing, if you just do a bit of surfing and posting on bulletin boards, then you'll see no difference.

Have you actually measured your broadband speed? (Not being funny, just out of interest).

I'm with VirginMedia and recently been increased to 60mbit. Getting 6.5mb-7+mb per second from newsgroups.

Missus was after an album the other day. 50 seconds later it was playing. (try before I buy, obviously ;) )

Where I live, regardless of my provider, I will not get anywhere near those speeds. I'm getting ~0.5 Mb/s.

Did they just send you the new modem/router or send someone round to install it? I got a message last week saying they were sending someone the next day, I phoned them to say there wouldn't be anyone in and as it was just a new modem to swap out the other couldn't they just send it to me and she said they aren't allowed to do that anymore! So now someone has to be home while they come and do something I could do myself!
I'm not on Virgin for TV but have broadband and phone. They keep increasing at no additional cost. It was 500k when I first signed up and that kept getting increased up to 10mbs.
A year or so ago I phoned them up as new customers were getting 20mbs for price I was paying and 10mbs for less than I paid. They said they couldn't just drop my price, I basically had to take out another service to trigger a new price so she offered to increase speed to 20mbs and that would drop my price by £5 a month!
So now I'm on 20mbs and that will be increased to 60mbs with the upgrade!

I had to have my modem upgraded to a Superhub. Free of charge. They shipped it out and I installed / swapped it out. Dead easy. Just follow instructions and activate.

So do I....but as I said, they won't just send it out anymore, women on the phone said that they had to send an engineer out, even when I said to her I'd be happy for them to send it and I'd do it myself....she said "It's a free visit by the engineer"!

I got an email saying that my broadband had been doubled but my router could not handle it and that I could get the super hub free. There was a link on the email just entered my details, it is treated like an installation so had 2 choices either do it myself or book an engineer.

Chose option 1, took around a week to arrive and ten minutes to install. Longest part was ringing and then having to wait 20-30 minutes for the hub to be activated.

All good now, just one router now as it is wifi as well.

Depends what you're after. I had the same call just after i'd had Virgin installed (I was with BT for phone and broadband till last week). I went with Virgin because of the deals they have, the TiVo box, and the fact that they have the fastest internet going. As a package, it's a lot better than what I had (BT for Phone and BB and Sky for TV).

If it's simply a broadband thing for you, definitely snap up their offer as it'll be a lot faster and more reliable. I had nightmares with BT's standard broadband.

If you're thinking of changing TV and phone too, go with Virgin.
