Elected though By an overwhelming majority of members of his party, might have something to do with him being the only candidate mind.......for some reason though, that reminds me of something a little closer to home!
RE: Elected though
It always makes me laugh that people believe there's some kind of democracy going on in Cuba and that it's some kind of shining example of communism at work.

No better or worse than our so called democracy multiparty system...all by and large believing in the same bankrupt methods

It's a dictatorship.
Where criticism will get you locked up or worse.
Guevera was a cowardly thug who jailed, tortured and murdered political opponents including children. Anyone who subscribes to the righteous, heroic image of the Cubam regimeis seriously delusional.

I've never understood the romanticism surrounding Guevara Wonder if in 20 years time Idi Amin will be on people's t-shirts?
RE: and in england there was no new election when tony blair resigned as prime minister, but gave the prime minister chair to gordon brown. but when at least raul was elected by his party. but i guess these things is allowed here in the western capitalistic world, but is dictatorship anywhere else. doublestandards and hypocracy
RE: but is´nt dictatorship when the south-american fascist regimes, supported by USA, England, Spain and France, arrest political opponents, torture and kills them. including children, then it is called democracy. Che fought against oppresive regimes, where people had no rights. CHE is a hero for the poor and under privelidged like Pinochet, Franco, Batista, Papa Doc etc etc was and is the hero for you rightwingers. and don´t forget that union activist is murdered by the government everyday in the country USA calls a democracy, Colombia
There's a difference Other people were allowed to put themselves forward for the Labour leadership election, they just chose not to. Also all the MP's could, at any time, have a vote of no confidence in the PM which would, effectively, mean he'd have to call a General Election, and they have to have one by 2010 (I think) anyway. When was the last free General Election in Cuba?
RE: There's a difference and you could never think that the same thing was the case in Cuba? off course not. they dictatorship, we great democracy ugh... there was parliament election in Cuba last year was´nt it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mk8pxyAWTBk
Just a little naive aren't you? http://cbs4.com/cuba/cuba.castro.raul.2.642284.html "There was only one choice for each office and organized campaigning was forbidden."
