Paddy McCourt has been given squad number 42, but can you name the last Barnsley player to have a shirt number of 40 or above?

... and bonus points if you can name the one and only Reds player to wear a shirt number above 50.

Werling wore 55. That Portuguese lad we had off west brom wore 40 same season (tininho? Taminho? Summat like that).

O'neill Thompson is the last I remember over 40 - he had 45 a few years back. Can't think of one since then.

Correct Gordon Ottershaw! He is the only one, and wore number 55.

Correct Bostonwayne! Nile Ranger was the last one before McCourt, wearing number 40.

Looking down at some of the players we've had who wore over 40 shows just how much dross we've had down the years! Only other one I've not seen mentioned is Gary Jones, who wore 40 when he first signed.

I recall Werling coming on against Coventry and remarking to the FPO that our new German signing had SS on his back.
