i got it on xbox. not that impressed, only good thing is graphics. refs are really poor on, booking or red for every tackle without fail, been playing it for 2-3 months not had a player sent off against me yet. mine crashes far too many for the amount the game costs. i have a 6 foot 8 player and still cant win headers against computer teams. no handballs on the game never seen one. What does everyone else think of it?? i personally think its poor
some parts are good. but others are shockingly bad. i got a red card yesterday for a tackle middle of park from the side and i got the ball as i watched replay. so its pretty poor in some aspects
I've only ever played one football game on a computer and that was The Boss; an absolute classic but it's fair to say it had its flaws and limitations however it did set a very high benchmark which doesnt seem to have been achieved by the latest batch of computer games.
I have it and play it quite a lot, mainly online now though. Probably a top 1% player. You'll get a card if you mistime a sliding tackle, not that you should ever really need to make them. Straight red if it's from behind. You need to jockey until you've got a chance of nipping in and taking the ball. Alternatively, use the secondary defender to double up on them so they don't have space to turn away from you. If you're playing online you're better off anticipating the passes, using the primary to defender to intercept and the secondary defender to hurry the player in possession. Providing you lean against the player when challenging for a header, you should win it. Of course there's no handballs, there never has been on any FIFA because it's something you can't control. You can turn handballs on but you'll get so many penalties given for/against when blocking shots that it's unrealistic. Playing against real people is a lot better than against the computer because on higher difficulties the computer concentrates too much on ball retention. The only time you'll get it back is after they've shot or crossed. My only problem with it is that there's a major bug online that they have not fixed. About 70% of the time, when your opponent quits, you don't get awarded the win, it's as if you never played the game, even if they quit with a couple of minutes to go. Drives me mad when I'm attempting to win the league title.
I've got FIFA 11 and still play that, online is great but some people just can't stand losing and quit when behind.
Have to say I have rarely, very rarely, had that happen to me mate in all honesty. Maybe it hasn't immediately given me the win, but then I go on to play a new game, quit back out of it to the Seasons home screen, and the 3 points have been added then. I think out of all the times i've been quit on, only twice has it not given me the win.
It happens to me so often, I don't get the win even after I've played another game. I'll try quitting back to the main menu though. It's got to the point where if I'm winning, I'll not really try to score any more in an attempt to not give my opponent a reason to quit. The number of people that quit in division 1 is ridiculous.
Stick with it, I always think the new releases are poor then they go on to be brilliant. I've had last three. This one is greatest football game ever created, it's unreal. I play online all time, kids from France, Germany, Italy. Won League 1 on line after about 3months
Re: Online quitting. There is the 5min rule, where players can quit if they go a goal down early, a lot will. After that you should always be awarded win, only time you won't will be if EA servers go down or your poor broadband fails you
I know the 5 minute rule, I also know that it's them that have quit rather than my connection going down. I still don't get wins, I've looked into it an a lot of other people have the same problem. My 140 online wins should be closer to 180.
how on earth do u lean on a player to win a header. also what is secondary defender. i dont play online just career mode with guess who. no not the MASSIVES. THE BARNSLEY
Sensible World of Soccer, from about 1996 on the Amiga 1200. Reight game for it's time. Maybe not graphically, but it played so well. And the management side has only been bettered by Football Manager some 10 years later, but that is a pure management game. Sensi had both. I had Tarn - featuring the 96 squad of Shez, Redders, Eaden etc. It was the year we got promoted in real life. But I had Tommy Mooney up front with Andy Liddell. Mooney was immense. Could score these power drives - like Redders - where if you pulled the joystick to the side they swerved like a Roberto Carlos free kick. Also had this black fella from Zambia in defence. Can't remember the name but he had blonde hair so looked unique with the top down aerial view that Sensi used. Ahhh, memories. Got a life now so can't play games.
Just use the analog stick to push into them while the ball is still in the air. You also win a lot more headers if you head it the direction you're leaning. It you hold R1 (I think it's RT on xbox) then the nearest unselected defender will close down the player with the ball and jockey them. It does the same thing as holding down X (A on xbox?) but for another defender. That leaves you to control the selected player however you wish... cut out passes, risk trying to nip in and get the ball or just having two players jockeying.
Longest Fifa thread without a comment regarding grown men playing computer games. I didn't get Fifa 13 due to new born, will be getting Fifa 14 though.
