Won 2-0 i think it would be fair to say Wakka came for the ball and didn't get it, so that was the first goal although there didn't seem to be any defenders going for it or on the line to head it away. The second came when a Barnsley player out wide on the left was given plenty of time to control the ball and then cross it for theirplayer to glance in a fine header gining Wakka no chance. That war Barnsley's only efforts on goal first half. Boro had a couple of shots, both from Ashley Lyth, neither on target. But it was an interesting first half, the new signings looked OK and it was pretty even apart from 2 goals. Second half Boro weren't really in it. Wakka made 3 or 4 excellent saves, 2 of which were top draw. One from a point blank header by Conlon was world class and the Barnsley player was shaking his head in disbelief before patting wakka on the back and then Chris Shuker clattered one and again a brilliant save kept the score down. Earlier Conlon had smacked in a header that was screaming into the top right hand cornet till Wakka tipped it over. The plus points in the second half were that Henry brought on Coulson, Beadle, Cook and several other subs/trialists and tehy managed to keep the score down. Coulson's pace was a problem for Barnsley but he had no real support. However Eccles looks a quality player, confident on the ball and happy to takes players on. There was a lot to be pleased with and can't really fault anyone. Barnsley look a very good side and in the second half their passing was excellent, quick one twos but also some brilliant 30 or 40 yards passes at speed, right to their man. I'm looking forward to saturday's game and an opportunity for the Boro players to gel.
