After 8 long years I've sacked Sky off....I'm upto knocking on £90 a month so I've cancelled my subscription.....

My plan is to renew pretty much straight away and see a saving of £360 a year for the same package plus new customers can have a new Samsung 32'' TV....seems a no brainer to me!

Ring em up and be a tight arsehole. I've done it over the last year or so and ended up getting Sky Movies for a £1 a month and got the overall bill reduced by £8, which is around £54. We've got everything in the package apart from Sky HD.

Phone em up cos they are ripping you off....cancel the contract , then start a new contract with em so they can keep on ripping you off for even longer.

I ring up and threaten to quit every year and get a good deal. I'd actually forgotten the details of the deal I got in February, because I called this morning to get rid of Sky Sports. I only keep it for the boxing, as I'm not interested in the Premiership, and there's only one card per month on Sky for the next few months. On top of that, they've cancelled Ringside. So I thought it would be far more cost effective to sack Sky Sports and get one of those Now TV day passes on the days they have boxing on.

Anyway, when I said I wanted to cancel they pointed out to me that they gave me a deal in February which gives me Sky Sports for a tenner a month. I still thought I'd cancel it though, so asked her to proceed, but she then said that if I kept it they'd knock £6 per month off the HD subscription, effectively making Sky Sports £4 per month. I'd already managed to wangle an upgrade for the second Sky+ box to HD for free a couple of weeks ago. So I've now got Sky+ HD in two rooms with the variety pack and Sky Sports for just over £40 per month. It really pays to haggle with them, although sometimes you have to be persistent and hold your nerve.

I'm paying £25 for 25 months for all channels. Movies, Sports, F1, HD (not BT Sports). Sky + HD box and free install.

Dropped on an engineers, friends and family code last year when it was Skys 25 year anniversary. Got about 12 month left and price never goes up either.

Shows how much they can make it.

For my internet I have Virgin 100mb + phone line and TiVo box in bedroom (min channels) for £23 a month. Always negotiate, never pay full ;)

i've just got sports with the basic sky channels for £18 p/m (60% off) and a £50 credit
as much as folk hate $ky, it gives me better value at around £180 for a year than the compulsory £150 licence fee

I've looked into that before and 'providers' disappear overnight.

I also run Raspberry Pi2 with Kodi and get just about all movies etc. in HD. No need to download any more. But live TV, including Sports are hard to find unless you pay a 'provider'. These mostly being SD and only just watchable on a big screen TV (IPTV Stalker or iVue).
