After hearing so many times over the years "this is their cup final" it'd be nice to know what it's like to hear the less condescending "this is THE cup final". Anyway, semi-finals: 1910 FA Cup Semi Final. Won (after a replay). 1912 FA Cup Semi Final. Won (after a replay). 2000 Division One Play-Off Semi Final. Won (over two legs). 2006 League One Play-Off Semi Final. Won (over two legs). Is that it? Any more in any other competitions over the years or do we have a 100% record in semi-finals?
if you want me to be really anal we don't..... ZDS Cup Northern Area Semi (1990/91????) Lost 0-1 at home to Everton. Does this count?!
It counted at the time..... ...I was well gutted when we lost! Thought it was our best chance of ever getting to Wembley!
We lost a Semi Final to Everton once.. Not saying it was a strange game but Tony Cottee scored a header from 20 yards out. Come to think of it, it was a Northern Semi Final of the Full Members Cup so technically it was a Quarter-Final.
Definitely a quarter-final If we'd have won it and the next game we still wouldn't have won the tournament yet. So to my mind it wasn't a semi-final.
