Today just shows how important confidence is.
They looked like they might batter us in first 15. We get a goal and everything changed. We grew, they fell apart.
These lads are so raw and we got the luck of playing a team down in the dumps. They were awful.
Thought Williams and potts looked better today. MOM Hammil by a country mile.

Six points from five games. Crucial. Gives us breathing space as this squad of players go about finding their feet. We'll have bad performances to come but with each passing game, touchwood, we'll get more and more competitive.

Agree with the - they battered us in the first 20 minutes or so.
If they had scored then - the whole match could have been different.
Credit to Barnsley though - they kept at it - and because they did, then the confidence in the Sunderland team started to ebb away bit by bit.

And thing about fans that make a lot of noise - when they sing the team is up - but when they stop singing this has a detrimental affect on the team.
When they are up they are up - but when they are down they are really foooking down.

Yeah we said the same. For some time it looked like a matter of time before Sunderland scored.

The battle was won and lost in midfield for me. We stepped up our game and Sunderland looked tired and the through roads started to appear.

Massive improvement from Moncur, Williams and Potts from last week.

Win the right to play and you've always got a chance!
