So as the PL parachute payments get distributed to the other teams in the division, it's definately in our interest to see Reading promoted via the play-offs. I suspect that many other clubs in the Championship would use this 'bonus' income to help service their debts, whereas we are in a position to use this money in a more constructive fashion; strengthening the squad and/or tying up players on longer term deals. So for no other reason than the fact we stand to benefit I really hope the Royals bounce straight back up.</p>

    Agreed

and I also think the other sides in the playoffs wont necessarily be as strong next year. And they are northern based so easier to get to. And we might get more money for JCR.

    what about our debts?

Surely we are in the same position as other clubs. We have a debt to cryne who loaned us money.

We could alsways use the money to buy back a share in OUR ground and land to stop the carpark being turned into an housing estate like they tried a couple of years ago

Are you sure about that ?</p>

Also other clubs' debts may be significantly higher than ours with commercial lenders who may not be as benevolent as Mr Cryne</p>

    How do you mean?

Am I sure about that? The bit about building on the carpark being attempted a couple of years ago?

And you're right about the way other clubs debts might not be with someone like cryne but it would still be nice to pay back some of the loan

Now then Dave, all you do is ring them up and ask for a few million, piece of the proverbial.</p>

Charge on my assets ? Why not ? Especially on something as profitable and as sure a thing as a football club.

Well are you sure about the car park bit ?

only in that I thought that when Oakwell Community assets acquired the property there was a covenant in place that stated that it could only be used for sporting purposes for the next 25 years. I could be wrong though.</p>

OCA applied for planning permission for houses on the car park. Not sure what came of it like.

    A masterplan?

Is that better than an ordinary plan?

It was in the chronicle and possibly on the official site as well

The company owned jointly by Patrick Cryne and the council applied for planning permission to build houses on the bottom half of the clubs carpark.

On a slightly random note somebody from scnuthorpe applied in march for planning permission to host car boots on the carpark

    Ask Noel Gallagher.

    hoho.</p>

If BMBC are involved then I'd doubt it.

In fact there have been several attempts made by OCA to build property

One for 'residential development' on land between grove street and queens road (isnt that the away carpark?) and one for the same on 'land off grove street'

Looks like the usual council procedure. Produce a 'Master Plan' that says nowt, does nowt, but costs 30 grand of ratepayers money. :D :D :D

Dunt say owt about houses in there does it ? nt

in fact I don't think it says a lot about anything except OCA to cough up &pound;30k for a 'master plan'</p>

oh and it's all written in the 'win win' blue sky thinking' synergy' fill the delta' management speak that has infested our language since new labour arrived.</p>

Still I suppose they need tobe pro-active</p>
