Tonight and this weekend. While I'm all for solidarity and actions to make your voices heard, come on fellas (and ladies) at the busiest time of your year? Hope it's not my kiddie/dog/house that goes up in smoke.
To be fair, that's the whole point - to do it at the busiest time. It's like when everyone says teachers should go on strike during the holidays?? The fact that we are now all worried about it, especially because it's such a busy period, shows how important they are and that they should be treated fairly.
Why should they do a job that they probably won't be able to do physically at 60 - what would happen if they failed a medical - would they gwt sacked? Lose pension?
Whilst I support the firefighters on this, had to laugh at the spokesperson on BBC news this morning saying that it wouldn't put the public at any greater danger! Really? How is that possible?
got every sympathy for their case but gambling with peoples lives is wrong, its a bit different to other professions going on strike at busy times, be interesting to see how many that agree would still agreed if it was their house that caught fire and their nearest and dearest were in danger!
Or you have a 60 year old bloke trying to carry you out of a burning building - life's being put at risk there surely
What about the firemen in danger and risking their lives. The people on their backs and the Teachers are responsible for creating the mess in the first place. They will be those responsible, because the firefighters and teachers have not gone on strike without thought of the consequences.
that's assuming that they would send a team all the same age! still don't like the idea of anybody's life being put at risk because of any industrial dispute
Fireman on radio sheffield this morning said they wouldn't be on strike at the weekend, is that wrong then??
